Bram Stoker's Dracula

One of the all time favorites, this version of Dracula starts with a human Count Dracula with a love lost. Waiting centuries together to get a glimpse of a woman resembling his love....must be fun...
Jokes apart, Coppola handles it masterfully. Wonder if someone other than Gary Oldman would have made it more gripping. Great cast though. There's a new book 'The Historian' or something...based on digging info about the real Transylvanian Count.

The Motorcycle Diaries

A beautifully created movie. Whatever the critics might have to complain about, it's still a very good movie. Slow and smooth soundtrack. What's there not to like...Gael Garcia is a fine actor. Other notable movies include 'Y Tu Mama Tambien', 'Amores Perros'.

The Shining

Always been a horror-movie fanatic and I believe I have found just what I needed...'The Shining'. Defined for me the word 'Chilling'. Powerfull visuals by Mr.Kubrick.

The Cube Series

Suggested by a distant friend of mine, Cube (first part in the series) starts and ends without giving you much of an explanation. You will still not have enough info to put the pieces together. One of those 'different' kind of feel movie. Then came Cube 2 which polished up the original theme and offers a little more info about the Cube. As excited as I was when I saw the 'Cube 0' DVD appear on the Blockbuster shelf, after watching it, I would rather watch the first two parts and be content with it. They should have ended the series akin to '2001: A Space Odyssey' series. Oh well, each to his own.

Stanley Kubrick

Who could surpass the genius of Mr.Kubrick...
'A Clock work Orange', '2001 A Space Odyssey', 'Eyes Wide Shut'...widely spaced but still impeccable work.

About the 2001 series, the books are actually much more gripping. Wonder if there's a '3001: The Final Odyssey' movie. Arthur C Clarke....Another genius.

Images

Worth a thousand words...why not upload some nice images while we are at it...Here's an all-time favorite from 'Romeo + Juliet'.

Scarlett Johansson from 'Lost in Translation'

The Cardigans

'Love Fool' made me dig up more stuff by this swedish band. Good music. Most of their music is slightly tangential to main stream but still worth repeats.

Ingmar Bergman

Strikingly deep. I'm guessing it will take reruns to completely digest it (if it's possible...). Wonder when I can get my hands on Persona.

Blockbuster sucks. But then, I'm yet to come across better libraries.

Ingrid Bergman

Who else to kick off the series with other than the gorgeous swede. Casablanca would tie you down, slow you down and linger in your head for a long time once you watch it. Especially the accented Ingrid. Forced me to start a Ingrid Bergman film festival. "For Whom the Bells Toll", "Gas Light", "Notorious"...stand out.

By the end of the series, consciously or unconsciously I felt the word 'type-cast' pop up. Who cares, these movies are just fiiiiine.
